Tonight the MPHS girl’s softball and boy’s baseball teams host Ft. Madison, the Jv teams play at Ft. Madison. MPCSD Athletic Director Bob Jensen has announced a schedule update for Panther Baseball. Mt. Pleasant will play at Fairfield in a rescheduled varsity baseball double header on Wednesday, June 23rd at 5:30pm These games were postponed due to rain on Monday, June 14th.

Regional Softball Assignments have been announced by the IGHSAU. Mt. Pleasant will play Ft. Madison at Ft. Madison in the first round of the regional softball tournament at 7:00pm on July 10th. The second round game of the regional will be played on July 12th in Mt. Pleasant Community High School at Maple Leaf at 7:00pm The winner of the MPHS/Ft. Madison game will play the winner of the Williamsburg/Washington match up. The regional final is July 14th in Keokuk, Pella, Centerville, Fairfield and Keokuk make up the bottom bracket of the regional. 1A regional play opens July 7th with New London @ HTC, WMU @ Lone Tree, IMS @ Waco, Harmony @ Danville. Regional quarter finals are July 9th, semis July 12th and finals July 14th. 2A regional play begins July 8th with Central Lee @ Mediapolis, Van Buren @ W. Burlington/Notre Dame, Columbus @ Mid Prairie, Wapello @ L-M. Quarter finals will be played the next night, semis on July 12th and finals on July 14th.

TheKansas City Royals wrapped up their series with the Braves on Sunday. The Royals lost 8-5. The Royals road trip continues today, with a 3 game series with the Washington Nationals in our nations Capital. KILJ AM 1130 has the action live, at 5:30 tonight.

MPCHS Coaches are holding “Cat Quick” workouts on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday every week this summer for any Mt. Pleasant Community Middle School or High School students that would like to attend. These workouts will improve the student’ – ‘s speed, agility, and strength. The workouts begin at 6:30 a.m. and are done by 7:50 a.m. All athletes going into 7th grade through 12th grade are encouraged to attend. The group will be divided into middle school and high school levels. There is no cost for this program. Remember the other schools are doing it so you need to do it better PANTHERS!!!!!!!!

A Southeast Iowa Track and Field Camp for area students in 4th – 10th grades will be held July 5th – 9th at the Maple Leaf Athletic Complex. Current and former athletes and coaches from MPCHS will give participants instructional techniques in sprint events, hurdles, distance events, field events, and relays. Cost of the camp is $30.
