MPHS girls softball team fell 4-2 at W. Burlington-Notre Dame last night. The Falcons out hit the Panthers 9-5, leading M.P. in hitting were: Sammi Goble and Allie Beaber with triples. Mackenzie Sartorious and Elizabeth Lambert had the RBI’ – ‘s. Panthers are now 7-16 and play makeup games with Ft. Madison tomorrow night.

Area softball scores: #13 Burlington split with Pleasant Valley losing 2-1 and winning 3-0, #12 Ft. Madison twice over Fairfield 10-0 and 7-1, Central Lee 3 Van Buren 2, New London 5 Danville 1, WMU 5 L-M 1, IMS 10 Wapello 1, Mediapolis 7 Columbus Community 2.

Area baseball scores: Holy Trinity Catholic recorded their first win beating Notre Dame at Community Field in Burlington 14-11, Central Lee 5 #10 Van Buren 4, Burlington twice over Pleasant Valley 14-9 and 11-3, New London 3 Danville 1, Cardinal 11 Harmony 4, Pekin twice over WMU/WACO 14-1 and 15-0, Highland swept Columbus Community 15-2, 15-2.

The latest High School baseball rankings have just one KILJ area team ranked. Van Buren is rated #10 in Class 2A, Solon tops that class as the #1 ranked team. Class 4A is headed by Davenport Central, Class 3A by Davenport Assumption and Class 1A by Martensdale St. Mary’ – ‘s.

Kansas City opened a series with the White Sox last night winning 3-1. Royals play the Chicago White Sox again tonight in K.C. and on KILJ-AM 1130 at 6:35pm
