Registration materials for the Mt. Pleasant 5th and 6th Grade Tackle Football League this fall will be available to pick up August 3rd at school registration at the Mt. Pleasant Middle School. The new 2010 Mt. Pleasant Panther football t-shirts will also be available at both the high school and the middle school.

New London High School has scheduled a meet the players night for their fall sports teams on August 14th at 6pm on the New London football field. A free will donation meal will be served by the Black and Gold boosters. Tiger fans in attendance will have the opportunity to make a donation to the “fall sports wish list.” A parking spot acution will take place, plus other raffles along with the introduction of the football, cross country and volleyball teams.

The IHSAA State Baseball Champions were crowned on Saturday at Prinicpal park in Des Moines. Class Champs were: 1A Remsen St. Mary’ – ‘s, 2A Solon, 3A Glenwood, 4A C.R. Kennedy.

Cozy Cozine of Winfield set another national record in winning the Masters 50-54 275 pound weight class, drug test division at the United Powerlifters Association National Bench Press meet held over the weekend in Dubuque. Cozy pressed 523 ½ pounds which is a new national record and personal best for him. Cozine is in his 39th year of competitive weight lifting.

Kansas City Royals wrapped up their weekend series with Baltimore beating the birds 5-4. K.C. will play in Oakland tonight, hear the action on KILJ-AM 1130 at 8:30pmpm
