Drake relays qualifiers from the KILJ listening area: GIRLS: MPHS girls will run in the 4×100 and shuttle hurdle relays, Tayo Ajose of Mediapolis in the high jump and the Bullettes 4×100 relay. Heaven Chandler of Columbus Community in the long jump, 100 meter hurdles and 100 meter dash.
BOYS: MPHS will have Brandon Moorman and Court Andrew in the 110 high hurdles, Leonard Wester in the shot put and discus, also the 4×800, 4×100 and medley relays will run. Wes Atkinson of WMU in the 110 high hurdles, Mediapolis and Central Lee will run in the 4×100 relay. High school events will be held on Friday and Saturday.

Brittany Melloy, former MPHS track standout ran for Wartburg college at the Kansas Relays over the weekend. She was a member of their 5th place 4×400 relay team. Brittany is expected to run in several events at the upcoming Drake Relays.

Local sporting events today: MPHS girls golf at Fairfield, M.P. girls soccer at Washington, Washington at MPHS boys soccer, MPHS JV girls and boys track at Burlington, MPHS boys’ tennis at Holy Trinity will be at 3:30 p.m. instead of 4:30 p.m.

Southeastern Community College golfer Jessica Lerdal finished 5th in the Region 11 tournament qualifying competition held on the Otter Creek Course in Ankeny over the weekend shooting a 180 score. The New London native will now advance onto the national tournament in Daytona Beach, Florida beginning May 16th.

The 2011 Iowa Wesleyan College fundamentals camp will be held June 13th thru the 17th at Howe Activity Center. It’s for boys in grades 5-8. Campers will learn offensive and defensive fundamentals and also play in a number of games as well as contests. The camp is headed up by IWC men’s basketball coach Al Magnani, registration is underway now, if interested call 385-6307 or 986-5482.
