A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for May 20th for Fairfield girls golf coach Susan Steinbeck.

Steinbeck has been charged in Lee County with OWI, child endangerment and not having a valid driver’s license in her possession. Steinbeck was arrested Tuesday morning in Lee County as she was driving the golf team to a meet in Keokuk. Her blood alcohol level was more than two and a half times the legal limit to operate a motorized vehicle in Iowa. Fairfield school Superintendent Don Achelpohl said Steinbeck, who was also the middle school computer applications teacher, has been on administrative leave since Tuesday, from her extracurricular coaching duties and classroom teaching pending further investigation and a meeting with Steinbeck and her attorney.
