Carla Kath McNamee of Mt Pleasant was honored with a Distinguished Young Alumni Award from Iowa Wesleyan College during the annual Alumni Banquet May 6.
The Distinguished Young Alumni Award is presented to alumni under 40 who have shown outstanding leadership and a commitment to Iowa Wesleyan College.
McNamee graduated from Iowa Wesleyan with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She joined the staff of Hearth & Home Technologies, a leading producer of fireplaces and other hearth products, as a staff accountant. Over the next 11 years she earned a series of promotions, from accounting manager to controller to general manager. In 2010 she was named vice president/general manager of the Mount Pleasant production facility.
McNamee is the youngest General Manager at Hearth & Home Technologies. She is also the first and currently only female General Manager in the company. Since becoming General Manager she has been instrumental in the development of new business opportunities, including the new BIO-500F – Agriculture Pellet Furnace.
She is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants.
She served as a member of the Iowa Wesleyan College Alumni Association Board of Directors for seven years, including three years as the organization’s secretary/treasurer.
McNamee is an active member of the Mount Pleasant community. She has held leadership roles in Help 2 Others and the United Way. She is currently director of the AWANA program at the First United Methodist Church, as well as a member of the church’s Staff-Parish Relations Committee. She also coaches girls’ softball.
She and her husband, Rich, are the parents of four children: Reece, Keelyn, Gannon and Ella.
Also receiving a Distinguished Young Alumni Award was Pati Pati of American Samoa. Other award winners were David Dixon of Oskaloosa, Distinguished Alumni Award, and Warren and Jill Ludvigsen of Wheaton, Illinois, Alumni Service Award.
