Mt. Pleasant girls track team scored 13 points and finished in 16th place in the team race at the State Track Meet. Leslie Taylor Placed 2nd in the long jump with a leap of 17’ ½”, she also finished 5th in the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 16.16, the shuttle hurdle relay was 8th in a time of 1:11.01 with Leslie Taylor, Chelsea Starks, Kaitlin Jones and Rebecca Kimzey.

MPHS boys ended up in 11th place in the 3A team standings with 28 points. Brandon Moorman won the 110 hurdles in 14.94, Scott Hahn was 4th in the 400 dash 50.08, 4×400 relay 7th 3:26.06 Court Andrew, Tommy Thorne, Darian Cotton, Scott Hahn. Distance medley relay was 4th 3:34.99 Demetrius Goode, Brandon Moorman, Tylor Hoyle, Scott Hahn. Leonard Wester 4th shot put 52’ 81/2”, Darian Cotton 8th 100 meters 11.75.

Grinnell defeated Mt. Pleasant in boy’s substate tennis Saturday 5-0. Eric Hahn and Jared Ruble will play in state

IWC softball team dropped their third and final game played at the NAIA National Softball Championships. Tigers were beaten 12-4 by William Woods University. Wesleyan finished pool play 0-3 and wrap up their season with an 18-36 record. Ayla Serrano was the losing pitcher and had a hit, Leigha Strong also had a hit, they both had rbi’s also.

The IHSAA has announced the boys soccer substate pairings. Mt. Pleasant will open 2A play at home on Monday May 23rd at 5 p.m. against Washington. The winner plays Clear Creek Amana at IMS on May 25th. The other half of the substate has Fairfield, Keokuk and Ft. Madison.

The class 1A tournament begins May 23rd with Danville at Central Lee the winner plays Holy Trinity Catholic on May 25th in West Point.

The other half of the tournament has Notre Dame, Columbus Community and Highland.

The Girls 2A Regional Golf tournament is at West Liberty today, Wapello will be competing.

Also on today – WACO’s Michaela Kremer will be competing in medalist play in the 1A Girls Golf Regional at Belle Plaine. New London will also be competing in the team competition there today.
STATE Golf Tournaments will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, May 31-June 1.
