MPHS boy’s soccer teams substate match at IMS last night with Clear Creek Amana was moved to tonight. Ft. Madison and Keokuk will play tonight in Ft. Madison in the other half of the substate.

Holy Trinity Catholic soccer with Danville/New London has been moved to tonight at 8 p.m. after the Keokuk at Holy Trinity girl’s regional soccer match that begins at 6 p.m. The winner of that match will play the MPHS girls on May 31st, the Panthers have a first round tournament bye.

The Panther Wrestling Club is going to host a 5K run on June 18th and all area runners are invited to participate. The run will be held at East Lake Park with registration at 8 a.m. and race begins at 9 a.m. There will be male and female races for pre-high school, high school, post high school to age 34 and age 35 and over. Wartburg College senior Brittany Melloy, a Mount Pleasant High
School graduate, earned a berth in the 400 meter hurdles for this
weekend\’s NCAA Division III outdoor track and field Championships.
Melloy, who enters the weekend with the fastest qualifying time in the
nation, seeks repeat outdoor All-American honors after placing fifth last
season.

Jackie Imhof made a first-inning run hold up as Oregon Tech (42-13) blanked California Baptist (66-5) 1-0 to win the 2011 NAIA Softball National Championship Wednesday at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex. The IWC Tiger softball team was eliminated from the tournament in earlier pool play.

The Mt. Pleasant Aquatic Center has announced they will open the pool Monday May 30th, then close during the school week, reopen on June 4th and 5th, then open for the season on June 8th at 1 p.m. Individual pool passes this year are priced at $50, family of five passes are $120 ($5 for each additional family member). Ticket books of ten are $30 and 25 will be $60.
Contact the Rec Department to sign up for swimming lessons and a life guard training class will be held June 9th – 11th for anyone age 15 and over.
