MT. PLEASANT – Henry County Health Center recently received two national awards recognizing excellence in technology and marketing.
Web Health AwardsSM
Henry County Health Center’s Information Technology Department received a Gold Award in the Intranet category for the hospital’s intranet/portal. The Health Information Resource CenterSM announced the winners of its 13th annual Web Health AwardsSM which honors the nation’s best digital health resources. The competition, which is held twice yearly, featured 17 entry categories, including blog, e-newsletter, interactive content, mobile application, social network, video, and website.
A panel of 39 experts in digital health media served as judges and selected gold, silver, bronze, and merit winners from among more than 500 entries. Using a rating scale of 1 to 100 points, a panel of health technology professionals reviewed entries based on content, format, success in reaching the targeted health audience and overall quality. The winners in the “Intranet” category are as follows:

The Intranet Portal is utilized as an employee communication platform at the hospital to fulfill communication needs within the organization through a variety of built-in features specific to healthcare. HCHC’s Intranet Portal has benefited the organization in several ways. The technology has improved communication internally by providing an organization-wide communication tool. It also empowers users through self-service data management, assists in streamlining processes, and eliminates paper waste. In addition, the technology is used as a vehicle to help achieve HCHC’s mission and vision.
Also receiving a national award is Henry County Health Center’s Public Information Department. The Public Information Department and Amanda Milks Design were named the Gold Winner in the Aster Awards Excellence in Medical Marketing 2011 Awards Program. The Gold distinction was received for the hospital’s external newsletter, Health Update, in the category Newsletter/External-Series. Health Update is HCHC’s direct mail newsletter mailed to
area households. The newsletter contains information about HCHC and the services and programs offered, provides updates on hospital news and events, and gives information on the HCHC Foundation.
The Aster Awards is a medical marketing awards program allowing healthcare organizations and advertising agencies to compete against similarly sized competitors from across the nation and world. The competition recognizes healthcare marketing professionals for outstanding excellence in advertising, with awards granted to winning entries exemplifying excellence. Winning entries, judged by a diverse panel of experts, are published in the Marketing Healthcare Today magazine.
Each year the Aster Awards has an annual contest where entries that are designed, printed and/or distributed the previous year are scored, judged and recognized for excellence in healthcare marketing and advertising. All entries for each category are placed together for judging by a panel of design and healthcare marketing professionals with decades of combined experience. Entries are judged on: Creativity, Layout/Design, Typography, Production, Knowledge Transfer, Quality & Overall Effectiveness.
