Saturday’s Friends of conservation Jam at the Dam event was rianed out and will be rescheduled for a dryer time. Another 2.5″ of rain fell at the KILJ studios over the weekend, 12.05″ have fallen in June.
42 year old Tracy Terry of Stockport was arrested in Mt. Pleasant when the pickup he was driving crashed at the intersection of highways 34 & 218 at 2:34 a.m. Sunday. He was charged with owi 1st offense and several other charges by Mt. Pleasant police. He also was charged with numerous traffic violations by the Henry County Sheriffs office from incidints in the Salem area where he drove through yards and hit road signs. Terry was taken to jail and then to court.
A second effort is underway in New London to support a bond issue that would pay for a second tier of improvements to the New London School District infrastructure. The KIDS committee was created last fall to support passage of a general obligation bond. The issue did not pass so they are trying again September 13th to pass the measure. Mt. Pleasant fourth of july committee is urging people and organizations to participate in the 4th of July parade in McMillan Park at 3:30 p.m. on the 4th. Fun activities like drive a tractor, the trolly will be running and the carousel as well as the Midwest Central Railroad. Have fun on the 4th in Mt. Pleasant!
Hazel May (Heise) Van Winkle 86 of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa went home to be with the Lord, leaving from the Henry County Health Center, Sunday evening, June 26, 2011, as her daughter held her hand.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at Faith Christian Outreach Church in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Monte Knudsen officiating. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Murphy Funeral Home where the family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Faith Christian Outreach Church or to The Animal Rescue League of Mt. Pleasant.
