Several accidents investigated. A south bound semi struck a horse that was on the interstate near Kentucky avenue at 1:53 a.m. this morning. Driver not hurt, horse killed and $5,000 damages.
A two vehicle accident happened near the entrance of Shottenkirk Motors on the east edge of Mt. pleasant at 8:06 a.m. Tuesday. An east bound car driven by Kim Brumbaugh was turning north into a drive, she did not see a west bound car driven by Lisa Erlewine and they collided. No one was hurt, there was $6,000 damages, Brumbaugh was charged with failure to yield.
On Monday morning at 11:36 a.m. Margaret Coleman was backing from a parking space in the 100 block of W. Monore and collided with a pickup driven by Kelly Dawson, no injuriesm $800 damages and Coleman was charged with unsafe backing.

Paving of Washington Street in Mt. Pleasant will take place tomorrow beginning at 7 a.m. Be careful as you travel in the area there will be lots of construction equipment and workers.

Mt. Pleasant City Hall will be closed Monday July 4th and garbage pickup in Mt. Pleasant will be running a day late next week.

The Great Prairie Education Agency Board of Directors selected a new Chief Administrator for the Agency. Jon Sheldahl who currently serves as Superintendent of the Ottumwa School District was selected from a field of 16 candidates. He will replace joe Crozier who has been in the position since 2002.

Mt. Pleasant Utilities Board of Directors will meet again Friday morning at 11;30 a.m. to go into executive session to discuss candidates to replace retiring manager Lori Glanzman.
