Authorities are searching the Des Moines River near Kilbourne in Van Buren county for an 88 year old Birmingham woman. Her car was found near the river early Wednesday morning and her family has reported her missing and fear she has fallen into the Des Moines river. Area fire departments and the DNR are assisting Van Buren County Sheriffs officials.

The city of Winfield is asking their residents to boil their drinking water for the next 24 hours. The boil order was put into place after work was done on the water system on the east side of the city Wednesday afternoon. The water supply should be back to normal by Friday.

The rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar is being performed in Fairfield this week. First staged on Broadway back in 1971, it highlights political and interpersonal struggles between Judas Iscariot and Jesus. The opera is based very loosely on the Gospels’ account of the last week of Jesus’ life. Jesus Christ Superstar will be presented on the Stephen Sondheim Center Stage in Fairfield Tonight, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and July 3rd at 2 p.m. Get tickets on line at www.fairfieldacc.com.

Don’t forget garbage pickup in Mt. Pleasant next week will be running a day late as no garbage will be collected on Monday the 4th of July.

Watch out for cement trucks today as East Washington street is being paved. Over 100 truck loads of cement will be turned into street today.
