MPHS softball team dropped both games of a conference double header at Fairfield last night 5-4 and 14-2. Sammi Goble pitched the first game and Mandi White the second game. Leslie Taylor was 2-4 in the first game and Natalie Booton drove in 2 runs. Kelsey Smith had two hits to lead the Panther offense. M.P. 10-14 and (3-9) tonight plays at Burlington.
Other scores last night: Burlington lost two games to Pleasant Valley 6-0 and 4-3. IMS beat WMU 8-3, New London 9 Van Buren 8, #8 W. Burlington-Notre Dame swept Central Lee 2-0 and 10-0, Wapello twice over Waco 2-0 and 11-4, Danville had twin wins over Harmony 12-1 11-0, Columbus beat L&M twice 3-0 and 8-2.
Games tonight: Muscatine is hosting a tournament, Clear Creek Amana Tournament is going on and Central Lee plays at Mediapolis.

MPHS baseball team swept a double header at Fairfield 12-1 and 6-2. Henry Krieger-Coble pitched the first win and Connor Shull the second. Alex O’Donnell had three RBI’s in the first game. Joey Vaughn was 2-3 with 2 RBI’s in the nightcap. M.P. is 14-5 and (6-2), they play at Ottumwa tonight. Catcher Ross Heitmeier was struck in the nose with a pitched ball while batting and will be out for awhile with a broken nose.
Other games: Burlington split with pleasant valley winning the first game 7-5 but lost the second 5-0, New London swept Central Lee 11-6 and 2-1.
Games tonight: Pekin at Notre Dame, W. Burlington at Central Lee, Danville at Harmony, Cardinal at Holy Trinity, Van Buren at New London, Ft. Madison at Davenport North, Keokuk at Mid Prairie.

Fort Madison Community Hospital will host a Coaches Clinic on Saturday, June 25th. This free event is open to all area coaches – volunteer or employed – and will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the FMCH Conference Rooms.
The clinic will open with a keynote address from Dr. Eric Johnson, Western Illinois University, Men’s Soccer Coach. In 14 seasons at the helm of the Fighting Leatherneck men’s soccer program, Dr. Eric Johnson has led four teams to Summit League Tournament Championship and has seen his team receive a birth in the NCAA College Cup in four of the past six seasons.
Several topics will be covered throughout the day. The goal of the clinic is to provide coaches with the tools they need to help ensure the safety and health of all area student athletes.
This clinic is free to all area volunteer and employed coaches. Lunch will be provided. To reserve your spot, contact Katelin Dinwiddie at 319-376-2751.

The IWC Football Camp is July 15th and the Coaching Clinic on July 16th. Early registration deadline is July 1st for the cheaper registration ($50). Players get all day instruction with Hal Mumme, Mike Leach and others. If coaches send 10 or more players they get the coaching clinic on Saturday for free.
