Karen A. Sanderson Lamb, 69, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Fairfield, died Thursday, July 28, 2011 at her residence.
A funeral service for Karen Lamb will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 30 at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street, Mount Pleasant. Burial will be in the Salem East Cemetery, Salem, IA. Friends may call from 1PM until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
Ms. Lamb the former Karen Ann Sanderson, was born November 3, 1941 in Hillsboro, IA. She was the daughter of Paul Everett and Edith Eugene May (Shaffner) Sanderson. She attended school in Hillsboro. On November 3, 1958 at her husband’s grandfather’s home, Karen was united in marriage to Richard Wayne Lamb. The couple later divorced. Karen was a longtime homemaker in Fairfield for over 30 years, recently moving to Mt. Pleasant. She enjoyed crocheting doilies and other crafts, and was an avid reader.
Those thankful for sharing in Karen’s life include a son and his wife, Gerald and Renee’ Lamb of Middletown, IA; 3 daughters and their husbands, Patricia and Daniel DuFour of New London, Brenda & Rick Hand of Mt. Pleasant, and Victoria & Vernon Pearson of Mt. Pleasant; a brother and his wife, Richard and Jeannie Sanderson of Comanche, IA; 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Her parents, former husband, 1 son, James Lamb, 2 brothers, James & John Sanderson, 3 sisters, Phyllis Hall, Bonnie Kempf and Pauline Job and a granddaughter precede Karen in death.

Johnnie Sue Hemmie, 34, of Mt. Pleasant died Thursday, July 28, 2011 at her residence from a 2 month battle with cancer.
A celebration of life for Johnnie will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the United Church of Crawfordsville in Crawfordsville. The Reverend Nancy Oehler-Love, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at a later date. Friends may call from 10 AM until the service time on Saturday at the church. The Kimzey Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Johnnie Sue Hemmie was born December 6, 1976 in Mt. Pleasant. She was the daughter of Winsor Mahlon and Alice Joan (Wells) Hemmie. She attended school within the Mt. Pleasant Community School District. She was united in marriage to Marc Daniel Cunningham. Mr. Cunningham died January 9, 2007 from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident near Fairfield.
Johnnie worked at the former Blue Bird Bus Company in Mt. Pleasant, Tyson’s Foods in Columbus Junction and at the bakery in the Wal-Mart Store in Mt. Pleasant. Primarily, Johnnie was a care giver for her parents. She was a baptized member of the United Church of Crawfordsville. She loved Harley Davidson motorcycles and the color black. More than anything, she treasured her children and her pet bulldog, Mack.
Those thankful for sharing in Johnnie’s life include 2 sons Courtland Cunningham of Mississippi and Cordel Cunningham of Fairfield, IA; 2 daughters, Daisey Hemmie of Mt. Pleasant and Harley Hemmie of Fairfield; her mother, Mrs. Joan Hemmie of Mt. Pleasant; 2 brothers and their wives, Sam & Tracey Hemmie of Crawfordsville and Winsor & Kelly Hemmie, Jr. of Fairfield; her special companion, Randy Joe Cunningham of Mt. Pleasant and his children, Kamerin Christopher and Kylee June, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Her father and husband precede Johnnie in death.
