The Iowa Baseball Coaches Association has announced their All District player selections for the summer of 2011. Mt. Pleasant High School had several players named all district were: 1st team-Connor Shull, Henry Krieger-Coble and Braden Shull.
Class 1A first team all district-Kyle Helmerson of New London. Austin Allen was named to the second team.
Class 2A all district honors went to: Court Garrett, Jorey Heckenberg and Blake Scott of Van Buren were first team.
Class 4A, Burlington had three players selected to second team all district. Kody Massnger, Brian Pflum and Austin Shaver.

State Baseball Tournament results from Monday: Martensdale St. Mary’s won their 85th game in a row with a 2-1 win over English Valleys, Coon Rapids Bayard beat Preston 13-3, Lansing Key High downed George Little Rock 14-2 and Mason City Newman rolled over Orient Macksburg 16-0. Those winners move to the semis on Thursday.
Today the 3a schools take to the diamond with afternoon games featuring Storm lake against Marion and Solon will tangle with Solon. Tonight the Washington Demons play Adel ADM at 6p.m. followed by Harlan against Boone.

Joanna Settles, new head girls basketball coach at Mt. Pleasant high School is conducting basketball camps this week and next week. Players in grades 9-12 are doing camp this week. Then next Tuesday thru Friday the 5th thru 8th grade players will have a camp from 9:30 a.m. till noon each day. To sign up and get more info call coach Settles at 530-7392.

The MPHS shooting team had another success full weekend. They were invited to a shoot at Carthage, Illinois along with Stronghurst, Illinois’ team. M.P. hit 182 out of 200 targets and won the event.
The 8th annual S.E. Iowa Friends of NRA fundraiser banquet is going to be held August 4th at the Mt. Pleasant Moose Lodge. Tickets are $25 for adults, children ages 4-16 $15. Sponsor packages are available for $275.
There will be a number of raffles and an auction of a variety of items.

There is a hunter education class coming up soon for anyone over the age of 12 years old. The classes are mandatory for anyone born after January 1, 1972 that would like to obtain a hunting license. A class is coming up September 7th and 8th from 6 to 9:30 p.m. And from 8 a.m. till completion on September 10th. Pick up a workbook at the Henry County Conservation office at Oakland Mills, County Recorders office at the court house, Guns Ltd. In Mt. Pleasant or at Big Creek Outdoor Supply. The Louisa County Fair will be featuring double the
Racing this week. On Thursday, July 28 the Corn Belt Clash Late Model Series
will draw some of the best in late model racing to the 4/10 mile racing 35 laps for $3000 to win prize. Also on the card will be Modifieds, IMCA Sport Compacts and Mod Lites.
Racing will be back again then Friday, July 29 for more point race action on Screamer Express Night. Catch the late models, Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, Mod Lites and IMCA Sport Compacts racing for points.
