West Burlington-Notre Dame JV defeated the Mt. Pleasant JV 30-20 in W. Burlington Monday night.
Mt Pleasant JV leaders:
Aaron Kelly was 12 for 21 passing; 212 yards; 2 TD’s; 0 INTS. Zach Mulford had 3 receptions for 115 yards and 2 TD’s, Lee Davis caught 7 balls for 76 yards.
Josh Larson had a 70 yard kickoff return for 1 TD
Defensively Josh Larson had 11 tackles and 1 sack, Alec Skubal recorded 10 tackles and 1 sack, Jayton Phillips 8 tackles and 1 sack.
Mount Pleasant JV is now 0-1 and will play Williamsburg’s JV next Monday September 5, at Williamsburg. The game is scheduled for 5:30.

Latest rankings of Iowa high School football teams has Waco ranked 6th in class”A” and Mediapolis ranked 7th in class 2A. Cedar Falls tops the 4A poll, S.C. Heelan is #1 in 3A, West Marshall is ranked #1 in 2A, Emmetsburg tops the 1A poll and Britt West Hancock class “A”. The #1 ranked team in 8 man is Armstrong Ringsted.

Today’s local sports schedule: MPHS girls and boys cross country at Williamsburg. Area volleyball matches has Davenport Assumption at Burlington, Mid Prairie is at L&M, Davis County at Keokuk and the Wapello Invitational will be played.

• Iowa State opens its 120th season of college football Saturday against Northern Iowa.
The 2011 season marks the 37th the Cyclones have played in Jack Trice Stadium.
• Iowa State is 84-31-4 in season-openers. The 2011 season marks the 37th the Cyclones
have played in Jack Trice Stadium.
• Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads enters his third season as head coach of the Cyclones.
He is 12-13 as head coach.
• The Cyclones return 16 starters (6 offense, 7 defense, 3 specialists) from the 2010 team
that finished 5-7 overall and 3-5 in the Big 12.
• Junior college transfer Steele Jantz was named the Cyclones’ starting quarterback by
head coach Paul Rhoads following the team’s final scrimmage. Jantz is the first junior college
transfer to start for the Cyclones since Seneca Wallace.
• Jack Trice Stadium features a new $5 million videoboard. For quick facts on the new

• Since Iowa State’s first night game in Jack Trice Stadium in 1984, the Cyclones have
opened the season at home under the lights 16 times.
• Iowa State is 8-2 in its last 10 season openers, including 2-0 with Rhoads coaching.

News from the Mt. Pleasant Park and Rec Department. Registration for Youth Flag Football is going on until august 31st, program is for boys and girls in grades 1-5.
Kindergarten flag football registration is open until September 6th. The four week program meets at East Lake Park on Tuesday evenings.
Panther cheerleading camp registration is open until September 2nd. This camp is for youth in grades K-5. Camp meets on Saturday mornings and will conclude with participants cheering at the MPHS football game October 14th.
