The MPHS JV football team fell to Ft. Madison on the Hounds home field last night 36-0. Panthers host Pella next Monday night.

MPMS 8th grade volleyball battled Ottumwa last night. In the “A” match Ottumwa won 2-0, Ottumwa won the “B” match 2-0, M.P. won the “C” match 2-0 and the Bulldogs won the “D” match 2-0. Some Panthers players who did well last night: Haylee Boecker, Morgan Fraise, Samantha Zeleny, Olivia Forseen, Maddy Long and Heidi Patterson.

Area sports coming up tonight: Volleyball-Mt. Pleasant at Washington, Burlington at Bettendorf, Notre Dame at W. Burlington, Holy Trinity Catholic at Cardinal, Van Buren at Danville, L&M at IMS, Mediapolis at Highland, Fairfield at Ft. Madison, Columbus at WMU, Wapello at lone Tree, Pekin visits Waco, Central Lee entertains Maharishi.
The MPHS girls and boys cross country teams will be running at Iowa City West tonight. Washington and Harmony are both hosting invitationals also.

The latest high school football poll has a couple of KILJ area tams ranked. Mediapolis is #5 in class 2A and Lone Tree is #4 in class “A”. Cedar Falls tops the 4A poll, Clear Lake is #1 in 3A, Iowa City Regina ranks #1 in class 2A, Council Bluffs St. Alberts is #1 in class 1A, LeMars Gehlan Catholic is #1 in class “A” and eight man football has Armstrong Ringstead as the top ranked team.
In the FCS college poll the University Of Northern Iowa Panthers are #2 in the country behind #1 Georgia Southern.
