A celebration of life for Ellen B. Clark, 92 of Wayland will be held Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 10:00AM at the Wayland Mennonite Church in Wayland with Pastor’s Pam Unruh and Kelly Slagel officiating. Burial will follow at the North Hill Cemetery in rural Wayland. Visitation will be held Friday, September 30, 2011 from 6-8PM at the Wayland Mennonite Church in Wayland. Memorial donations may be directed to the Wayland Mennonite Church, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Hospice of Washington County or the Wayland 1st Responders.
Ellen Clark died Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at the Washington County Hospital following a lingering illness.
Ellen was born February 24, 1919 in Shickley, Nebraska, the daughter of Peter and Barbara (Springer) Roth. She was united in marriage to Dale Clark on June 6, 1943 in Shickley, Nebraska. Ellen was a homemaker and also worked at the Parkview Home in Wayland for 27 years. She volunteered at the Crowded Closet and the Parkview Home. Ellen was member of the Wayland Mennonite Church, Ladies American Legion Auxillary and the Wayland Historical Society. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and reading.
Survivors include two sons and spouses, Gary and Jennifer Clark of Williamsburg, Iowa, Kevin and Lisa Clark of Wayland, Iowa, five grandchildren, Matthew Drummond, Melissa Drummond, Lindsay and husband Edward Bascom, Caitlin and husband Wade Timmins, Lilly Clark and one great grandson, Evan Bascom.
Preceding Ellen in death were her parents, her husband Dale in 1972, one daughter, Marlene Drummond and seven brothers, Albert, Harry, Melvin, Raymond, David, Vernon and Clarence Roth.
