The Iowa Wesleyan College women’s soccer team fought hard in a 2-1 overtime loss to Clarke University Wednesday afternoon at East Lake Park.
IWC lost to the Crusaders in overtime for the second consecutive year, as the Tigers lost by a 1-0 score last year in Dubuque. The loss put the Tigers at 6-5 overall and 0-2 in Midwest Collegiate Conference play. Clarke improves to 4-6 overall, 2-1 in MCC play. The Iowa Wesleyan College men’s soccer team lost to Clarke University by a 6-2 score in Midwest Collegiate Conference play on Wednesday afternoon at East Lake Park.
The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for IWC and puts the Tigers at 3-6 overall, 0-2 in MCC play. The win improved Clarke to 5-4 overall, 3-0 in MCC.

Today IWC will play volleyball at Culver Stockton. High School volleyball has Danville @ #3 Holy Trinity Catholic, Van Buren @ Cardinal, Lone Tree @ #5 Mediapolis, WMU @ L&M, Pekin @ Columbus, New London @ Central Lee, Wapello @ Highland, Waco @ IMS.
WMU is hosting a cross country invitational.

Whitetails unlimited is sponsoring the Mt. Pleasant area banquet tonight at Manning Hall in Mt. Pleasant. A two meat dinner will be served, an auction will be held as well as numerous raffle drawings for a wide array of outdoor and hunting items. Proceeds from the event go to support the Whitetails Unlimited organization and their projects that benefit a number of groups and individuals locally.
Social hour is at 5 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m.

The Waco High School football program is celebrating their 50th anniversary during this weekends homecoming.
Head football coach Chad Edeker has put together a special event to celebrate the 50 years of Warrior football. Friday night there will be a tailgate event from 5-7 p.m. at the football field before the game with Danville. At 7 p.m. there will be a parade of past Warriors, former Waco players are invited to be there to join their teammates and be introduced.
Then on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. an Alumni flag football game will be played, with an alumni pep band and drill teams also participating.

Major League Baseball wrapped up the regular season yesterday and now prepares for playoff action. American League matchups: Detroit vs New York, Tampa Bay vs Texas.
National League matchups: Philadelphia vs St. Louis, Arizona vs Milwaukee.
