The Waco Warriors football season ended last night in the first round of the class “A” playoffs, they fell to Lynnville Sully 54-14. The Hawks scored first to take a 6-0 lead, but Waco came right back and scored on a 72 yard run by Tyler Ayers to tie the contest up. Then L.S. scored 42 unanswered points and cruised to the win. Justin Fryenberger wrapped up the Waco scoring on a late game 2 yard run.
Warriors end the season 7-3, they will graduate 9 seniors off the team. Waco’s cupboard is never bare though as they have a rich football tradition and some very talented under classmen coming up in the program for coach Chad Edeker and his staff.
Lynnville Sully now travels to #1 Lisbon to play Monday night in the next round of the playoffs, Lisbon won over Belle Plaine 51-0.
Other area teams playoff results: Class “A”-BGM defeated Danville 47-0, class 2A-Mediapolis beat L&M 40-7, Bulldogs (10-0) host Wilton (8-2) Monday night. Class 3A-Norwalk beat Keokuk 34-33 (ot) and Adel downed Fairfield 56-21, Oskaloosa beat Carlisle 23-22 and play at Adel Monday night.
The Class 2A-Region 8 Oct. 28 regional semifinal volleyball match between Davis County & Mediapolis has been moved from Cardinal of Eldon to Mount Pleasant Panther Gym. Start time remains 7:00 p.m. KILJ-FM and kilj.com will have action updates during our New London @ Holy Trinity Catholic broadcast.
Tonight the class 3A regional volleyball games resume with semi final action. Keokuk who eliminated Mt. Pleasant Monday night will play at #13 Davenport Assumption. The other semi has Washington playing Maquoketa at Clear Creek Amana High School. Match times are 7 p.m. The winners will meet in the regional final Wednesday night at Central Clinton DeWitt.
Fans are invited kick off the 2011-12 season with the Quincy University men’s and women’s basketball teams on tonight in Pepsi Arena. Both teams will scrimmage and fans will be able to get autographs following the scrimmages. The Lady Hawks will scrimmage from 6:00-6:30 p.m. with the men scrimmaging from 6:30-7:00 p.m.
The Quincy men’s basketball team opens its season November 5th with an exhibition game against Drake University. Former Mt. Pleasant Panther Scott Hahn is a freshman on the Quincy University men’s team.
Friday night regional semi final volleyball action takes place for class 1A and 2A. In the 1A field, #3 Holy Trinity Catholic is 44-2 and will host New London who has a 28-12 record. KILJ-FM and kilj.com will carry Friday nights semi final live at 7 p.m.
In the other half of the region HLV and BGM will have the battle of initials Friday night at Brooklyn.

PLEASANT HIGH SCHOOL AGAINST A TALENTED DAVIS COUNTY MUSTANG TEAM THAT BRINGS A 27-12 WON-LOSS RECORD. THE MATCH WAS TO BE PLAYED AT CARDINAL OF ELDON BUT WAS MOVED TO A LARGER GYM. 7 SENIORS ARE ON THE 12 PERSON MUSTANG ROSTER, LED BY LAUREN DEWES WHO HAS RECORDED 335 KILLS AND 45 ACE SERVES. RYLEE EAKINS AND ASIA BOONE HAVE EACH RECORDED OVER 120 KILLS THIS SEASON.
THE TOP SERVER ON THE TEAM IS LEAH RUSHMAN WHO HAS 104 ACE SERVES. KAYLEE SCHOLTEN IS THE TOP SETTER WITH 462 ASSISTS. THE MUSTANGS HAVE THREE SIX FOOTERS ON THEIR ROSTER BUT ONLY ONE, RYLEE EAKINS IS A REGULAR.
MEDIAPOLIS ONCE AGAIN WILL COUNTER WITH AUBREY SIEGEL WHO HAS 700 ASSISTS AND 55 ACE SERVES. SHE WILL BE SETTING UP POWER HITTERS, KALYN ERTZ AND JESSICA HOLSTEEN WHO BOTH HAVE WELL OVER 200 KILLS EACH AND OF COURSE 6’ FRESHMAN HALEY HILLYARD HAS STARTED TO BE A BIG PART OF THE BULLETTES SUCCESS.
THE WINNER GOES ONTO THE REGIONAL FINALS AT DURANT ON TUESDAY AT 7 P.M. AGAINST THE WINNER OF TONIGHTS W. LIBERTY VS WAPELLO MATCH.

Texas Rangers lead the World Series 3 games to two, game six was rained out last night, it will be played tonight with the first pitch at 7:05 p.m. in Busch Stadium.
The 2011 State Volleyball Championships in Cedar Rapids will be played at the Ice Arena, here are directions for sports fans entering C.R. from the South.
North bound Traffic:
Take I-380 to Wilson Avenue, exit 18.
Turn onto Wilson Avenue heading west.
