Holiday Happenings

Written by on November 28, 2011 in News

There are several holiday events going on this coming week.  The city of West Point hosts their 8th annual West Point Wonderland this Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm in downtown West Point.  There is a full list of events going on including a Community Nativity Display at the Barr-Holtkamp Funeral Home, a wine tasting at the Corner Tap, roasted chestnuts at Donnellson Chiropractic and the festival of trees at the American Legion.  There are many other events as well.  The entire family is invited to come out and partake of the holiday festivities.

Main Street Mt. Pleasant gets into the holiday spirit with Holiday on Main.  The event is from 5 to 8 pm all around the square.  Several businesses will be hosting open houses.  Santa will arrive in by Central Park; announcing his arrival is the sixth grade band.  Children will have an opportunity to have their picture taken with the man in red.  Also available are horse-drawn carriage rides, Christmas window displays- many of them live- and carolers as well as other great entertainment.  Even Fido can get in on the action!  Henry County Animal Rescue offers $5 photos for your pets with Santa at Broeker Photography.

Another event going on next Thursday is for the younger set.  Children love cookies and so does Santa.  The Mt. Pleasant Park and Rec hosts “Cookies with Santa” from 6 to 7:30 pm next Thursday evening at the Heatilator Auditorium.  Children will decorate a dozen cookies.  They also get to meet Santa, play games, read a story and much more.  Cost is $10 for residents, $12.50 for non-residents.
