Yesterday morning around 5 am, Mt. Pleasant Police and the Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle accident on the northbound ramp for Highway 218 from Highway 34.  A car driven by Jennifer Walljasper of West Point lost traction on the frosty railroad bridge.  She lost control of the vehicle in her attempt to brake.  The vehicle entered the east ditch where it rolled over before coming to rest on its side in the ditch.  Walljasper was transported to the Henry County Health Center.  The extent of her injuries in unknown.  The pickup appears to be a total loss.
And on Tuesday afternoon a little before 1 pm, the Mt. Pleasant Police were called to a two vehicle accident on Monroe Street, in front of the Subway Restaurant.  A car driven by George Allinson of Mt. Pleasant was traveling west on the street and stopped for a red light when a car driven by Sherry Hope of New London backed into the Allinson vehicle.  No injuries were reported.  Combined damages were estimated at $2500.  Hope was cited for unsafe backing.
