Senior guard Adilene Villalobos (Tucson, Ariz.) has been named the Midwest Collegiate Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, as announced by the MCC.
Villalobos posted a pair of strong performances off the bench last week as IWC split a pair of games at the La Quinta Stritch Holiday Classic hosted by Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) University. She averaged 13.5 points and three rebounds per game, shooting 64.3% from the field and 60% from three-point range in being named to the all-tournament team for the two-day invite.
IWC returns to the court Friday when it faces Tabor (Kan.) College as part of the two-day Tabor Holiday Basketball Classic in Hillsboro, Kan., at 6 p.m. The Tigers also will play Saturday on New Year’s Eve against Sterling (Kan.) College at 1 p.m.
In Monday night football action the New Orleans Saints defeated the Atlanta Falcons 45-16. Drew Brees threw for 307 yards and four touchdowns. Brees set a new single season NFL passing record of 5,087 yards with one regular season game to play. The old record stood for 27 years and was held by Dan Marino.
Missouri won the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, La. 41-24 over North Carolina. Today at 3:30 p.m. Western Michigan will play Purdue in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl in Detroit. 7 PM tonight North Carolina State will play Louisville in the Belk Bowl in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Iowa State will go to the Pinstripe Bowl in Yankee Stadium to play Rutgers Friday December 30th at 2:30 p.m. KILJ-AM 1130 will carry the game live.
The Hawkeyes go bowling in Tempe Arizona at the Insight Bowl Friday December 30th at 9 pm against Oklahoma. KILJ-FM 105.5 will carry the game live.

Lose IT! is a 2 person team weight loss challenge at the REC Center beginning January 9th, 2012. Each team is required to weigh in every two weeks where they will also have their body fat percentage checked. The team with the most weight/percentage of body fat lost by April 18, 2012 will win our Grand Prize of $500, Yearly Individual memberships, and 8 free personal training sessions (each). Prizes will also be awarded for 2nd and 3rd place teams.
