: Sign up for the 2012 Direct and Counter-Cyclical Program (DCP) enrollment began January 23, 2012 and will end June 1, 2012 announced Joe Portz, County Executive Director for the Henry County FSA Office.
“With the shorter sign up period and with spring field work and planting around the corner, it is important for producers to start the enrollment process now,” said Portz. “Producers are encouraged to call and make an appointment to help with the sign up process.”
As producers begin considering shares for the 2012 DCP contracts, they are reminded that:
• All producers planting on DCP bases acres must be identified on the DCP/ACRE enrollment contact and receive a proportionate share of DCP/ACRE payment for the farm.
• Changes in ownership, producers, or the crop share arrangement on the farm made after enrolling in DCP/ACRE must be reports to your local FSA offices.
Producers should note that, changes to their 2012 DCP/ACRE enrollment contacts cannot be made after September 30, 2012.
Producers can also elect the ACRE option. This election along with enrolling the farm for 2012 can be made any time before June 1, 2012. If a farm has an ACRE election from a prior year, the farm remains in the ACRE. Producer are reminded of the need to enroll the farm annually to receive direct payments for both the DCP program and ACRE program.
The 2008 Farm Bill states that no 2012 advance direct payments for DCP and ACRE are to be issued. Direct payments at rates established by statute are expected to be made in October 2012.
