MPHS girl’s basketball team had to come from behind in the second half to defeat Ft. Madison in the Hounddome 51-36, freshman Kelsi Phipps led the way with 18 points, Taylor Shull had 12 and Taryne Shull 11 points.
The Panthers host Burlington this afternoon in a girls-boys double header beginning at 1;30 p.m. KILJ-FM and kilj.com will carry the games.
Mt. Pleasant won the freshman game 85-12 and the JV game 45-13 over the Bloodhounds.

MPHS boys improved to 15-1 overall and clinched the Southeast Conference title with a 72-37 win over Ft. Madison in Panther Gym. Logan Mulford had 6 three point field goals and had 20 points total to lead the Panthers. Blake Vandenberg and Nick Lyon each added 10.
The Panther freshman won over the Bloodhounds 41-26 and the MPJV won 48-39.

The MPHS wrestlers are going to Fairfield for a 16 team meet today.
The Southeast Iowa Super Conference wrestling tournament will be held in New London today. Mediapolis has the best dual meet record on the year coming into the tournament at 23-2. The Bulldogs also have 4 wrestlers ranked in the class 2A top ten. Ranked “Dogs” are: Cole Erickson 7th at 120 lbs. Drew Foster #5 126 lbs, Steven Holloway #10 at 152 lbs and Adam Drain #1 at 160 lbs.
Highland has 2 ranked wrestlers, Travis Cole at 113 and Jess Hahn 132. New London/WMU has Sawyer Farris ranked 2nd at 120 lbs. Kody Krenz of L&M is #6 at 126.

The IWC Tiger women and men travel to Viterbo Wisconsin for Midwest Collegiate conference action, IWC women are coming off a loss at Grandview Thursday night while the men scored a three point win on a Jeremy Simmons last second shot.

The 20th Anniversary Winter Iowa Games powered by the Iowa Food & Family Project will converge in Dubuque Saturday, Jan. 28 and Sunday, Jan. 29. The main weekend Winter Iowa Games will feature 12 sports and 3,000 athletes. Alpine skiing racing, youth basketball, cross country skiing, a fitness walk, youth ice hockey, indoor soccer, martial arts, a 5K road race, snowboarding, table tennis, volleyball and wrestling are all on the schedule of events.

Mid Prairie High School was scheduled to play varsity girls and boys basketball at Mt. Pleasant High School on February 6th, the girls teams are going to have to make up a weathered out game with Tipton that night so Mt. Pleasant will now be playing the 9th grade, JV, and Varsity boys’ basketball games at Mt. Pleasant Community High School with the 9th grade game starting at 4:30 p.m. There will be no games at Mt. Pleasant Community Middle School.

Activities Director at MPHS Bob Jensen has announced that a 9th grade girls’ basketball game vs. Central Lee on Monday, Jan. 30th at MPCHS starting at 6:30 p.m. has been added to the MPHS freshman girl’s schedule.

Games Galore for ages 3-5 years old! The Mt. Pleasant Rec Department wants to help young people stay active and beat the winter blues with four weeks of indoor fun and games! This program will offer a variety of your traitional favorite games as well as games that emphasize team work, problem solving, and communication skills.
