Three Democratic candidates have announced their candidacy for the 42nd Iowa State Senate District seat being vacated with the retirement of Senator Eugene Fraise at the end of the current term. The Democratic Primary Election will be held Tuesday, June 5th.
The candidates are Steve Ireland and Bob Morawitz of Ft. Madison and Rich Taylor of rural Mt. Pleasant.
On Saturday, February 4th from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m, the Henry County Democratic Party is hosting a public forum to afford area citizens an opportunity to meet the candidates. The event will be held at the Mt. Pleasant Public Library Community Meeting room, 307 East Monroe Street in Mt. Pleasant.
The public is invited.
Following introductory remarks by the candidates citizens will be asked to offer their chief concerns for the work of the State Senator and the Iowa Legislature and to ask questions of the candidates.
With 2011 Iowa redistricting the 42nd District now includes all of Henry and Lee Counties and Walnut, Buchanan, Lockridge and Round Prairie Townships in Jefferson County and Brighton, Marion and Crawford Townships in Washington County.
The event, open to the public, Saturday, February 4th, 2:00-3:30 p.m. Mt. Pleasant Library Community Room.
In the event of adverse weather, the event will be held, Saturday, February 11th, same time and place.
