The Iowa High School Athletic Association sectional wrestling tournaments for class 1A and 2A will be held around the state today. KILJ area 1A teams will wrestle at Van Buren High School, joining the Warriors will be Cardinal, Eddyville Blakesburg, Moravia, Pekin, Sigourney-Keota, and the Waco Warriors. The top two place finishers in each weight class will advance onto the district at Eddyville Blakesburg next Saturday. Wrestlers from the Pleasantville sectional will also be in that district to determine qualifiers for state action.
Ranked wrestlers at Van Buren sectional: Blake Marolf of Eddyville/Blakesburg #9 at 113 lbs. At 120 lbs. Jeren Glossner of Eddyville/Blakesburg is #9. Jason Crosby of Eddyville/Blakesburg is #4 at 126. Brett Roberts of Eddyville/Blakesburg is #2 at 170. Zach Corman Van Buren is #7 at 220 lbs.
Class 2A sectional wrestling will be held at West Burlington-Notre/Dame, joining the Falcons will be Columbus Community, L&M, Mediapolis, New London/Winfield Mt. Union and West Liberty. Fairfield and Washington will be at the Clear Creek Amana sectional that will join the West Burlington/Notre Dame top two place finishers at the district next Saturday at Fairfield.
Ranked wrestlers at W. Burlington sectional: Sawyer Farris of New London/WMU is ranked #2 and Cole Erickson of Mediapolis is #7 at 120 lbs. Kody Krenz of L&M and Drew Foster of Mediapolis are rnaked #5 and #6 at 126 lbs. Stven Holloway of Mediapolis #10 at 152 and Adam Drain of Mediapolis #1 at 160. Erik McKillip West Liberty #10 at 182.
The Iowa Wesleyan Tiger women and men travel to William Penn today for Midwest Collegiate Conference action. The women won Wednesday night over Waldorf to improve to 13-9 overall, 9-4 in the MCC.
The Tiger men lost 81-80 to Waldorf and are now 10-10 overall on the season and 5-8 in the Midwest Collegiate Conference.
