Mt. Pleasant won the large school girls division of the Keosippi Relays in Keokuk last night with 198 points, Fairfield was 2nd with 110. Emma Ludwig won the 400 meter dash for the Panthers. Leslie Taylor won the 100 meter hurdles. Panthers won the 4×100 relay 52.46, 4×400 4:26.4, 4×800 10:11.8, distance medley 4:44 and the shuttle hurdle relay 1:09.03.
Highland won the small school division with 132 points ahead of second place West Burlington-Notre Dame with 119.

Mt. Pleasant boys track team finished 2nd to Ft. Madison at the Davis County Relays. Bloodhounds scored 123, M.P. had 120 points. Panthers had one first place finish, they won the shuttle hurdle relay in 62.1. Mt. Pleasant’s outstanding hurdler and sprinter Brandon Moorman is nursing a sore hamstring and will not be running for awhile.

MPHS girls golf team defeated Washington 185-188 on the Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club course. Natalie Booton shot a 38 for the Panthers to be medalist. Other scores for the home team: Lindsay Dorn 45, Courtney Mabeus 51, Danika Christner 51 and Emily Cox 53.

MPHS boy’s golf team finished third in a triangular played at Oskaloosa yesterday. Fairfield won the event with a 311, the Trojans Kody Cool was medalist with a 73. For MPHSPatrick Zelinsky and Kiley Miller had 82’s, Quinn Daniel 83, Ross Heitmeier shot 84, Trey Jennings 87 and William Kinney 94.

MPHS girl’s soccer team rolled over Mid Prairie in Wellman yesterday by a score of 2-0. Erin Watt had an unassisted goal and Holly Long hit a penalty kick for the Panther goals. Lauren Hillman was in goal.

For the second match in a row the MPHS boy’s soccer team scored 9 goals. This time they defeated Danville-New London at East Lake Park 9-3.

The MP Middle School 8th grade girls track team competed in Fairfield Monday. The 8th graders finished 3rd in the team scoring with 113 points, Fairfield and Washington tied for 1st with 126 points. 1st place finishers for MPMS: Carolyn Lutovsky in the discus, Megan Shumaker in the long jump, and Sidney Taylor in the 200 meter hurdles.

Mt. Pleasant Panther Trap team attended the Fort Madison Invitational Trap Shoot at Tri-State Gun Club last Thursday, April 19, 2012. This was a dual qualified shoot, in that each participant’s score was counted for both the SCTP (Scholastic Clay Target Program) division and for the Iowa High School division. The difference being that in SCTP, there are two classes; Junior Varsity for all first year shooters and Senior Varsity for second year and beyond . In the Iowa High Scholl Division all athletes shoot the same class.
Mt. Pleasant fielded five (5) five-member squads consisting of 23 boys and 2 girls and won 7 out of nine trophies and 2 out of 4 medals, as follows:
In the SCTP – Junior Varsity Event : With very windy conditions: 3 trophies
Mount Pleasant Squad 1, Placed First With a score of 209 (out of 250). Squad member were Nick Ballou, Justin Doscher, Alex Peterson, Cody Bruggemeyer & Wade Patterson.
In the SCTP Senior Varsity Event:
Mount Pleasant Squad 2, placed Second with a score of 198. Squad members included J D Klopfenstein, Philip Yaley, Daniel Yaley, Jerrat Norton & Sam Kuckes.
Mt. Pleasant’s J D Klopfenstein placed First in the singles with a score of 47 out of 50
Mt. Pleasant’s Emma Ludwig was high scorer of the girls with a Score of 38.

Saturday, May 5th, 2012 the 1st Annual ‘Kids to Camp’ Family Fun Run/Walk, 5k fun run/walk will be held. It’s simply being held for fun and to raise funds No prizes awarding or bracketing and the event will be held Rain or Shine. Meet at Hayward Shelter (East Lake Park) Registration 8:30 to 9:00 Run/Walk begins at 9:00. T-Shirts are available with early registration. There may be some on race day but not guaranteed.
