The Fourth of July is this coming Wednesday and the Mt. Pleasant 4th of July Committee invites you to celebrate the national holiday with them. The festivities starts at 4:30 with the Independence Day Parade, following that is the popular Drive-A-Tractor as well as Train, Trolley and Carousel Rides at 5 pm. The Iowa National Guard will have their climbing tower from 5 to 7 and MedForce will be on hand with their helicopter on display. A traction steam engine spark show starts at dusk and is followed by fireworks at dark. The Henry County Cattlemen will be grilling hamburgers and ribeyes. Mt. Union Methodist Church, Main Street Mt. Pleasant, Relay for Life and Boy Scout Troop 27 will also have food and beverages for sale. You can reserve a front row parking space for $20 including a picnic table. Reserved spaces without a picnic table are only $15. Reserve yours by calling 931-6456. There is no cost to enjoy the festivities at McMillan Park. A $2 wristband is available for unlimited rides on the Midwest Central Railroad and there is also a $2 wristband for unlimited rides on the carousel and Midwest Electric Railway trolleys.
