WOB Announces Auditions for Disney’s Aladdin Jr

Way Off Broadway, Iowa’s only professional musical theatre company and the residential company at the Stephen Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts announces the founding of the WOB Academy with the auditions for Disney’s Aladdin Jr. Open auditions starting at 6:00pm both Tuesday and Wednesday September 4th and 5th at the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center. Be prepared to sing a little and fill out an audition form including availability to rehearse.

All of your favorite characters are in Disney’s Aladdin Jr., a stage adaptation of the Disney hit film. Filled with magic, mayhem, and flying carpet rides, audiences’ spirits will soar with excitement. Most of all, the tuneful, Academy award-winning score with songs including “A Whole New World” and “Friend Like Me” will certainly make this musical a favorite for many years to come. All roles are currently open and priority will be given to casting young talent. No past musical theatre experience is required just a desire to learn musical theatre performance techniques as we put together this Disney classic. Roles include; Aladdin, Jasmine, The Genie, Iago, Jafar, 5 Narrators, the Magic Carpet, the Sultan, Visiting Princes, Razoul, guards, townspeople, and ensemble. Everyone cast will either pay $75 for their costume rental or they can sell $150 worth of advertising in the playbill.
WOB Artistic Director Randal K West will Direct and Choreograph with Musical Direction by Shari Rhoads and Margaret Clair. The show will perform October 18-21st in the Sondheim Center. Those auditioning can sing any song they want from any source. This musical with rehearse 2 or 3 weekday evenings a week and either Saturday or Sunday afternoons based on the availability of those cast.It is open to all ages as long as the child can rehearse for 90 minutes at a time and is ready to learn and perform this type of material.
