Once again – today is the final day for any Mt Pleasant 7th or 8th grader that missed the Panther Football Camp – to come pick up their equipment. Come to the west locker room at Maple Leaf at 3:30 p.m. to pick up your gear. Coaches will be on hand to assist players and answer any questions. Middle School practice starts Monday.
Come meet the athletes, coaches, and cheerleaders of the fall sports teams at the
Mt. Pleasant Athletic Booster Club’s annual “Meet The Players Night”, tonight at the Maple Leaf Community Complex. Beginning at 6:30pm, the Boosters will begin serving the meal for the night. Introduction of players, cheerleaders and coaches of the fall sports teams begins at 7:15pm… and the 9th – 12th grade football teams will scrimmage beginning at 7:45pm. This is a great opportunity to show your support for the Panther teams, and get involved in another exciting year of athletics in Mt. Pleasant. The Booster Club will also be selling memberships at the event. Everyone is invited, and encouraged to attend.
In other Panther news… any Mt Pleasant 5th or 6th grader that wishes to play tackle football in the Youth Football League this fall, needs to be at Mt. Pleasant Community High School on Saturday, August 18th at 9:00 a.m. for tryouts. Registration materials will be available if you have not already sent in your registration. Equipment will be handed out Saturday morning as well. Please direct any questions to Bob Jensen at 385-7704, ext. 111.
And, the Mt. Pleasant Community High School football players are selling “Discount Cards” for the Mt. Pleasant Athletic Booster Club through Saturday, August 18th. The card has discounts for businesses in Mt. Pleasant and can be purchased for $20.00.
If you are not contacted by one of the grade 9 – 12 football players, and you would like to purchase a card, you can do so by coming to the activities office at MPHS.
Tonight at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson – it’s IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Sport Mods, Hobby Stocks and IMCA Sport Compacts running the track.
Lee County Speedway will also honor police officers, firefighters, paramedics and EMTs.
Due to an administrative issue, Lee County Speedway regrets to announce that the 305 Sprint Car portion of the racing activities has been cancelled. The remainder of the show will go on as scheduled.
Grandstand admission Friday will be $9 for adults, $7 for seniors, $5 for students 11-17 and children 10 and under are free. Pit passes are $25. Gates open at 5:30 p.m., hot laps are 7 p.m. and racing at 7:30 p.m.
