MT. PLEASANT – On Friday, October 19th in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Henry County Health Center Foundation and Pep Stop gas station will be raising funds to support the Foundation’s Mammography Program. From 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., HCHC associates and Foundation members will be pumping gas and washing windows at the Pep Stop in Mt. Pleasant. Proceeds of ten cents of every gallon pumped will be used to fund the Mammography Program. In addition, individual donations to the mammogram program are being accepted by Pep Stop throughout the month of October.

Pep Stop owner Jeff Fedler says, “This is a great program. It provides those women in need of proper cancer screening a way to receive it. We’re glad to be able to help support people in our communities and support the work of HCHC Foundation.”

The HCHC Foundation Mammography Fund was created in 2008 to help supplement Henry County Public Health Department’s Care for Yourself program. Care for Yourself provides eligible women access to free mammograms and cancer screening services. To help encourage women to get regular mammograms and reduce the fear associated with how to pay for such testing, HCHC Foundation worked with Public Health to set up this funding source for qualifying women. To learn more about the program, call Cindy Litchfield in Public Health at 385-6724 or Michelle Rosell of HCHC Foundation at 385-6541.
