It’s a big day for the Mt. Pleasant Culinary Department. They will be at the Indian Hills Iron Chef Competition today. The theme is “Buy Fresh, Buy Local” and the teams have been assisted by local producers providing meat and produce. The Culinary Arts III team consists of Chelsea Sammon, Daniel Bishop, Danielle Geresma, Kylie Goodman, Kaily Gibbs and Dillyn Mumme. For a starter, they are preparing a winter squash soup with gremolata. The main course will feature an elk loin with a mushroom sauce and roasted vegetables. For dessert, the team will present caramel apple cupcakes with ice cream quenelle. The Culinary Arts II team has members Liam Clancy, Reed Mendenhall, Tommy Pham, Raeanna Crile, Micaela Leunis and Justin Woods preparing a meal with a Greek theme. A Greek salad with be served with goat feta cheese and a Greek dressing. For the main course, they will offer a gyro with tzatziki sauce and a Greek rice dish with vegetables. The meal finishes with baklava. Good luck to both teams competing today at Indian Hills.
