Lois Kelly

Lois Elaine Kelly, 91, of Donnellson, Iowa, passed away at 6:41 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

Born December 21, 1920 in Indianola, Iowa the daughter of James B. Hazen and Margaret Blossom (Geitner) Kennedy. On June 22, 1947 she married Donald J. Kelly at the Sharon Church Parsonage in rural Farmington, Iowa. He preceded her in death on August 9, 1992.

Survivors include two daughters Carol (David) Mercer of Farmington, Iowa, Bonnie (Randy) Forburger of Des Moines, Iowa, one son Dean (Terese) Kelly of DeWitt, Iowa, seven grandchildren Kelly Mercer, Robert Mercer, Amy Hughlett, Anne Napper, Patricia Kelly, Colleen Kelly, Kevin Kelly, two sisters Maxine Roth of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Norma (Carl) Zurborg of Davenport, Iowa and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, one son Steven J. Kelly, one infant daughter Sandra L. Kelly and two brothers Frank Kennedy and Gerald Kennedy.

Lois was a member of the Sharon Presbyterian Church in rural Farmington, Iowa. When she was young she was a member of the Big Mound Methodist Church. Lois was a 1939 graduate of Salem High School in Salem, Iowa. She worked at Sheaffer Pen during WWII and was a wife, mother and homemaker. She also cooked at Harmony High School for several years.

Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2012 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson, Iowa. Where the family will meet with friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. that evening.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the Sharon Presbyterian Church rural Farmington, Iowa with Reverend Daniel Hemken officiating. Burial will be at the Sharon Presbyterian Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in her memory to Sharon Presbyterian Church or Great River Hospice.
