Mary Ann Howdeschell, age 74 of Peoria, Illinois, died Sunday October 21, 2012 at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. The daughter of Paul and Mary (Burns) Miller, she was born January 5, 1938 at Pulaski, Iowa. She grew up in Van Buren County where she attended all eight years of elementary school at a one room country school. She graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1955. She began working in Des Moines after high school. Her work took her to Peoria, where she met and married Hulen Howdeschell. Mary Ann was a very talented lady, especially with knitting, crocheting and baking, which she shared with friends and family. She was a faithful and active member of Peoria Heights Congregational Church.
Survivors include: a brother, Paul B. Miller and wife Marian of Louisville, KY; one sister, Carolyn Zillman and husband Dean of Newhall, Iowa; twin brother, Monte Miller of Wapello, Iowa; sister in law Belle Miller of Winfield; nieces and nephews;
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Jim Miller and a sister in law Wanda Miller.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday October 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Winfield-Scott Township Cemetery, with Rev. Beth Briggs officiating.
A memorial has been established for the Peoria Heights Congregational Church.
