Information and Input Need Regarding Use of Gibson Park for Horses

Written by on November 23, 2012 in News

Plans to dismantle the arena at McMillan Park have sent the Henry County saddle Club in search of a new location. Early talks with Henry County Conservation didn’t seem promising for locating an arena in Gibson Park. The Conservation Department was concerned about the logistics of having an arena there even tho equestrian use is permitted for riding. However, further conversations between the club and the Conservation Department have resulted in a decision to develope more equestrian use of Gibson. Conservation Director John Pullis says an information meeting is planned for Dec. 17 at 6 pm at the Oakland Mills office or maybe in the Nature Center depending on attendance.
