Fort Madison Blaze Destroys Business, Kills Six Horses

Written by on November 5, 2012 in News

The cause of an early morning fire in Fort Madison-area has yet to be determined.  The blaze destroyed the horse supply store Four B Tack and More and the stable, killing six horses.  After the fire was spotted a little before 1:40 am Sunday, the owners attempted to open the south doors of the stables to free the horses but the flames proved too intense to free the horses.  The remaining ten horses were turned out to the pasture to keep them away from the flames.  Firefighters from the Denmark, West Point and Montrose were called in to battle the blaze which was finally extinguished at around 5:45 that morning.  As stated, the case is still under investigation and the cause is unknown at this time.
