It looks like the city of Mt. Pleasant will soon replace stoplights in the downtown area with stop signs. Last night the city council passed the second reading of an ordinance to establish 4 way permanent stop signs at the intersections of Madison and Jefferson, Monroe and Jefferson and Monroe and Main.
In other news from the council meeting…the council scheduled a public hearing on the plans for renovating the Mt. Pleasant Airport Terminal. The terminal was built in the 1970’s and still looks much the same as it did then. This is one of the last projects in the overall airport improvement plan. The city has received a $75,000 grant to help pay for the renovation. The city’s share of the expense it $25,000.
