The Winfield Betterment Group has been working hard to promote buying local, developing businesses and enriching the social experiences in Winfield. That is why Winfield Betterment Group is excited to be teaming with Big Red Pride and local businesses to bring you a magnificent holiday event on December 1. This event includes a soup supper, tour of homes, wine tasting, holiday shopping, and a great opportunity to socialize.

If you are looking for some holiday cheer, a hostess gift or just want to give someone a taste of Iowa, then stop by Countreestore from 1:00pm – 3:30pm for an afternoon of wine tasting. Local wineries, including Ardon Creek Vineyards, Odessa Vineyards and Stone Cliff Winery, will be on hand to help you select the perfect wine for your holiday event or that person who needs some holiday cheer.

A Christmas open house will also be held from 2:00pm – 8:00 pm at Kathy’s Kard Korner, 110 S. Bashford in Winfield. Additional vendors will also be on hand with something for everyone on your holiday gift list, including crafts, bake goods, and candy.

Big Red Pride will be sponsoring a Tour of Homes from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, featuring five homes, beautifully decorated for the season to get you in the holiday spirit. Homes featured this year include: David and Liz Hinkle 406 S. Locust Winfield; Scott and Allyson McCarty, 206 N. Clark Winfield; Sally Naber, 110 N. Bashford, Winfield; Randy and Barb Gipple, 9993 W Ave., Columbus Junction; and Jeff and Krista Hagge, 24401 Co. Rd. G62 Columbus Junction. Tickets are just $8.00 and will be available beginning November 16 at Countreestore, Hagge Insurance, Peoples State Bank, and Pilot Grove Savings Bank. Tickets may also be purchased at some home basketball games, as well as on the day of the event at the VFW Building starting at 3:30 or at the featured homes beginning at 4:00 pm.

The Winfield Betterment Group will host the soup supper at the VFW from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Come early to get your choice of wonderful soups, home-made by some of our famous local cooks. The Betterment Group will also be selling $50 raffle tickets for the drawing that will take place on December 14 for $7000, $2000 and $1000 prizes.

This is a great opportunity to invite your family, friends, and co-workers to get in the holiday spirit and see for themselves all the exciting things happening in Winfield. It is also an ideal way to support the community, buy local, get lots of holiday ideas, do some Christmas shopping, and just enjoy a great social outing with family and friends.
