Clara Walljasper

Clara Theresa Walljasper, 88, of New Lothrop, Michigan, formerly of Salem, Iowa, passed away at 6:05 a.m. Sunday, November 25, 2012 at the McLearen Hospital in Flint, Michigan.

Born April 12, 1924 in Isabelle, South Dakota the daughter of Gerhart and Helena (Winnike) Boeding. On October 20, 1947 she married Walter H. Walljasper at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Houghton, Iowa. He preceded her in death on February 12, 1968.

Survivors include her four daughters Linda Simpson of Fort Madison, Iowa, Kathy (Richard) Crawford of Monmouth, Illinois, Ruth (Al) McDaniel of Flushing, Michigan, Racheal (Ben) Kunesh of Concord, North Carolina, one son Mark Walljasper of Oak Harbor, Washington, seventeen grandchildren, twenty two great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter, one son Matthew, one son-in-law Frank Simpson, four sisters and two brothers.

Clara was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Maple Grove, Michigan, a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and a member of Maple Grove Senior Citizens. She was a former member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Houghton, Iowa. She worked at Sheaffer Pen Company, in Fort Madison, Iowa. Clara enjoyed dancing and playing cards.

Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November, 30, 2012 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in West Point, Iowa, where the family will meet with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. that evening. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2012 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Houghton, Iowa with Father Joseph Phung as Celebrant. Burial will be at St. John’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Houghton, Iowa.

A memorial has been established in her memory.
