The IWC Women’s Basketball Team hosted Simpson College last night in Ruble Arena.
The Tigers started out strong, jumping out to a 14-9 lead early, but Simpson poured it on and didn’t look back, winning over IWC 53-72.
The Tigers shot 38.9 percent from the field for the game, but were just 22.2 percent from beyond the arc. The Storm shot an impressive 47.3 percent from the field, shooting an incredible 50 percent from deep as they hit 14 3-pointers in the game.
The Tigers had three players in double figures as Danielle Des Jardins (Sr.-Peoria, Ill.) led the team with 15 points… Michelle Price (Sr.-Frederick, Colo.) added 12, while Stephanie Russak (Jr.-Denver, Colo.) added 10 points. Mariah Sartorius (Jr.-Kingston, Ill.) pulled down a team high eight rebounds in the game.
Simpson was led by Kate Nielsen who scored a game-high 23 points.
The Tigers are now 1-7 on the year, while the win keeps the Storms’ undefeated season alive at 6-0. The Tigers return to action on Friday, Nov. 30 as they play their third home game of the week, hosting Briar Cliff University. Tip-off is set for 6:00pm at Ruble Arena in Mount Pleasant.

The Iowa High School Athletic Association has announced their wrestling tournament host sites for the 2013 Sectionals and Districts. Mt. Pleasant will host a 3A District on Saturday February 9th with the following schools competing with the Panthers: Burlington, Ft. Madison, Iowa City City High, Iowa City West, Keokuk, Oskaloosa and Ottumwa. The top two place finishers will advance to state.
Class 2A Sectional action will be February 2nd at Mediapolis. Joining the Bulldogs will be: Columbus Community, Fairfield, New London-Winfield Mt. Union, Washington and West Burlington-Notre Dame. The top two place finishers advance onto the District at West Liberty on February 9th.
The Class 1A sectional is February 2nd at Marengo Iowa Valley with: North English, Highland, Lone Tree, Iowa City Regina, Waco and West Branch. The two place finishers advance onto the District at Tipton on February 9th.

The State Wrestling Championship has been a sold out event for over 20 years and is the only IHSAA reserved ticket event. On November 19, 2011, the Board of Control of the Iowa High School Athletic Association adopted changes for the State Wrestling Tournament finals ticket distribution. Tickets are no longer purchased from and distributed by the IHSAA. Under this ticketing system, schools have the first opportunity to purchase tickets. Ticket sales to member high schools will begin Monday, December 3, 2012 at noon (12:00pm) and close Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 11:59pm. The order limit is a maximum of fifty (50) tickets per school. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 10:00am. The public will be able to purchase tickets at the Wells Fargo Arena ticket office, any Dahl’s store, online at or by calling 1-866-55-DAHLS. The order limit will be eight (8) tickets.
The ticket price is $8.00 per ticket, plus a convenience fee of $2.60 per ticket. There will be a $4.00 handling fee per order. A valid credit card will be needed to make an online purchase. The Wells Fargo Arena seating chart will be available identifying class 1A, 2A, and 3A mats. All seats will be assigned in the order the transactions are processed either at a ticketing location or online.
