The help wanted sign is going out in the Mt. Pleasant High School Athletic Department. Bob Jensen long time football coach, activities director and exercise science instructor has submitted his resignation to the Mt. Pleasant Community School District Board of Directors who will meet Monday night and approve the request.
Jensen grew up in rural Harlan, Iowa, attended the University of Northern Iowa and taught a short time in Elkader before coming to Mt. Pleasant in the early 70’s to teach, coach and raise his family.
His Panther football team this season had a record of 2-7 one of the few teams during his 24 years as head coach that ended the season with a losing record. During his tenure as head coach numerous players advanced to play at the next level in college.
The board will now have to decide whether Coach Jensen’s replacement will come from within the system or not.
