The Iowa Wesleyan College Tiger men’s basketball team kept the crowd entertained in another tight battle Tuesday night in Ruble Arena. In the end, the Tigers were able to pull away from the St. Ambrose University Bees to get the 59-46 win, giving the Tigers a 3-1 record to start the year.
Kyle Warner and Jon Umoren (Sr.-DeKalb, IL) led all scorers with 14 points each. Warner pulled down a game high 11 rebounds as well.
Cam Sanchez (Sr.-Chicago, IL) added nine points and seven boards for the Tigers.
The win was big as the Tigers prepare for a busy few days ahead. Tonight they travel to Quincy University to play and then back their bags for a trip to Adams State University in Alamosa, Colo. to take part in the Alamosa Tourism & Bankers Classic on Nov. 16-17. The Tigers will face Adams State on Friday at 7:00pm CST. They then take on New Mexico Highlands on Saturday at 2:00pm CST.

Southeastern Community College lost on the road last night to State Fair Missouri 82-71. Nick Lyon had 6 points for the Blackhawks.

Tonight on KILJ-FM tune in to hear the UNI Panthers men’s basketball game against Toledo, airtime is 6:30 p.m.

The Mt. Pleasant Middle School 7th grade boy’s basketball team played Ottumwa last night. In the “A” game MP won 48-26, Brady Sartorius scored 21 points. Ottumwa won the “B” game 18-17, Nick Steffens scored 8 points for the Panthers. Ottumwa won the “C” game 10-4, McCoy Mathews and Peyton Butterbaugh each had a basket.

Several KILJ area athletes were honored with post season awards in the All-Iowa Conference football teams.
Senior Danny Kelley former Mt. Pleasant Panther was named 1st team all conference offensive lineman. Danny plays for the Simpson Storm. Junior Brad Vogel former Central Lee High School player was named 1st team all conference kick returner he also was named second team wide receiver, Vogel also plays for Simpson.

Mt. Pleasant will host Williamsburg Friday night in a Hall of Pride exhibition basketball game in Panther Gym. The JV game is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. The MPHS girls basketball team is gathering food for the Fellowship Cup, so anyone who brings at least two non perishable food items will get into the game free.
