The Mt. Pleasant Middle School 8th girls basketball team played at Washington yesterday.

“A” game only: Mt Pleasant 34 (record 2-3)

The Middle School 7th grade boys played Washington. M.P. won the “A” game 55-44, Jordon Magnani had 15 points and Kieran Kohorst 10. M.P. won the “B” game 22-17, 5 players had 4 points each to lead the Panthers. Washington won the “C” game 14-4, Aaron Scarf had 3 points for M.P.

The Iowa Hawkeye men defeated Howard in Carver Hawkeye Arena last night 66-36, Devyn Marble scored 22 points to lead the Hawks to their third win of the season against no losses.
Tonight the Iowa Wrestling team is on the road at Tennessee Chattanooga to wrestle the host school as well as Virginia and Cumberland.

The Mt. Pleasant Community High School girls’ basketball teams will be playing a Hall of Pride scrimmage tonight at home against Williamsburg. These scrimmages are granted to Iowa high schools that participate in a community project to help others. This year the MPHS girls helped with a project at the Fellowship Cup.
In conjunction with these games, anyone school age and up will be admitted if they bring two or more canned goods to donate at the admission table. If they do not bring canned goods the normal $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students will be charged. There will be no admission charge for the 9th grade game which will be held at the Mt. Pleasant Community Middle School.
The schedule for the scrimmage games are as follows:
6:00 p.m. – 9th grade girls play Williamsburg at the Middle School
6:30 p.m. – JV girls vs Williamsburg at the high school
8:00 p.m. Varsity girls vs Williamsburg at the high school

The Adams State University men’s basketball team will host the 4-1 Iowa Wesleyan College Tigers, as the Grizzlies begin the 2012-13 season with the Alamosa Tourism and Bankers Classic that will run from today through Sunday in Alamosa, Colorado.
The Grizzlies will take on Iowa Wesleyan at 8 p.m. tonight. New Mexico Highlands will face Iowa Wesleyan at 3 p.m. Saturday.

The undefeated 13-0 and #1 ranked Mediapolis Bulldog football team will be going after their first ever state football championship when they tangle with 5th ranked 12-1 Spirit Lake in the class 2A state championship football game today at 2 p.m. in the “Dome” in Cedar Falls. Starting quarterback and K-State recruit Jesse Ertz is hobbled by a knee injury and probably will not play. Reports indicate he may need ACL surgery.
Other Championships today: 11 a.m. in Class 1A Iowa City Regina vs Council Bluffs St. Alberts, 7 p.m. class 4A Ankeny vs Cedar Rapids Xavier.
