Holy Trinity Catholic will be selling advance tickets to the November 8th State Volleyball Tournament match against Marquette Catholic of Bellevue beginning Monday November 5th from 8 a.m. till 3:30 p.m. at the school. Tickets are $8 each for students and adults.

Monday November 5th a “Meet and Greet” will be held at the “Club” in West Point. A pork loin sandwich supper will be served for a free will offering. The volleyball team will be there so you can get pictures and autographs. State tournament tickets will also be available for purchase then. The event will run from 5:30-8 p.m.

The MPHS boys cross country team has announced their Academic All Southeast Conference award winners. They are: Jared Beary, Derek Holtkamp, Drake Martin, Alec Mathews, Drew Perry, Brach Prough and Tommy Thorne.
Three MPHS runners Tommy Thorne, Brach Prough, and Drew Perry will be competing in the Senior All-Star Meet at Des Moines Area Community College this Saturday. Logan Murray,8th grade state champion runner will be racing in the open race as well.

The Southeast Conference announced their All-Conference Team.
The Mt. Pleasant volleyball team all conference selections were:
Senior Outside Hitter Elinor Krieger-Coble and Sophomore Middle Hitter Kelsi Phipps made 1st Team-All-Conference
Senior Libero Kathryn Chabal and Junior Middle Hitter Taryne Shull made 2nd Team-All-Conference
Senior Elinor Krieger-Coble was selected as Co-MVP for the conference along with Fairfield’s senior Sydney Howard

The Southeast Iowa super conference has announced their all conference selections. 1st team honors for area players in the North Division: Mediapolis-Rachel Holsteen, Jessica Holsteen, Kensley Heater, Heidi Hillyard, Aubrey Siegel. Winfield Mt. Union-Alicia Escher, Erica Robison and Anna Crawford.
Area Players making 1st team on the Southern Division team: Holy Trinity Catholic-Jordon Freesmeier, Mikaela Foecke, Emily Tinguely. New London-Koral Crossett, Sarah Holtkamp and Caitlin Chiri.

The 19th annual Southeast Iowa Volleyball Classic will be played at Fairfield High School Saturday night November 3rd at 7 p.m. The top high school senior volleyball players from around S.E. Iowa make up the all star teams. Selected to play from Mt. Pleasant were: Kathryn Chabal and Elinor Krieger-Coble. Winfield Mt. Union players Anna Crawford, Katie Benson and Alicia Escher. New London players Caitlin Chiri and Koral Crossett. The Mediapolis and Holy Trinity players selected will not be participating because of qualifying for the state tournament. From HTC: Amanda Welding, Emily Tinguely, Rachel Kempker, Caitlin Fraise and Jordon Freesmeier. From Mediapolis Aubrey Siegle, Jessica Holsteen and Kensley Heater.

Mediapolis continues to roll through the Class 2A football playoffs, they beat West Liberty 42-6 Monday night in the second round of the playoffs. Tonight the Bulldogs will host
Bondurant Farrar who won Monday night 33-0 over Mid Prairie. Tonight’s game is on Archer field in Mediapolis where Bulldogs have won 19 of their last 20 games, kickoff is at 7 p.m.

The Iowa Wesleyan men’s and women’s basketball teams are ready for a big year. Both teams will be playing to get into the USCAA National tournament this winter.
The men’s team is coached by Jess Settles, who is in his second year at the helm for the Tigers. Settles coached the Tigers to a 12-14 record last season. The Tigers averaged 74.5 points per game last season, shooting 45.8% from the field. They also averaged 16.5 assists, 8.0 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game under Settles’ guidance last season.
The women’s team is coached by Steve Williamson, who begins his ninth year with the program. Williamson has transformed the program since taking over. Prior to Williamson taking the helm, the Tigers suffered 19 losing season. Williamson has built the program into a national contender as he owns a 165-88 record with the Tigers, recording the second most wins in school history after legendary coach Olan Ruble, who won 274 games from 1943-65.
The men’s team will open up their season on tomorrow night as they host Benedictine University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00pm at Ruble Arena.
The women’s basketball team will open up their season on tonight and tomorrow as they travel to Des Moines, Iowa for the Grandview University Classic. The Tigers have drawn 8th ranked Grandview in the opening round and will play Mt. Mercy Saturday.

The Quincy University men’s basketball team will be playing an exhibition game Sunday in Carver Hawkeye Arena against the Iowa Hawkeyes. Former Mt. Pleasant Panther Scott Hahn is starting for the Quincy Hawks. In an exhibition game against Notre Dame on the road that they lost 111-52, Hahn played 21 minutes, scored 8 points. He’s expected to start again this Sunday against the Hawkeyes in a game you will hear on KILJ-FM 105.5 beginning with the pregame show at 12 noon.
