The IWC football team played at Grandview Saturday and fell to the 9th ranked Vikings 51-7. Wesleyan closes out the year at Concorida of Michigan this Saturday.

The IWC women’s basketball team opened their season in Des Moines at the Grandview Tournament Friday night and lost in the opening round to the host school 8th ranked Grandview 79-37. Michelle Price had 8 points to lead Wesleyan. The Lady Tigers played Mt. Mercy Saturday in Des Moines and fell by a score of 70-54, Ashley Kruse led IWC with 15 points. Wesleyan will play in the Mt. Mercy Tournament this upcoming weekend.

The IWC men’s team opened up their season Saturday night at home the beat Illinois Benedictine University 70-63, Derrick Nillisen made 6-3point field goals on his way to scoring 23 points.

Former Mt. Pleasant Panther Nick Lyon led the Southeastern Community College Blackhawks to a 93-67 win over Culver Stockton College JV with 14 points and 12 rebounds Friday night. Saturday he scored 8 points in the Blackhawks 82-69 win over Iowa Central Community College of Ft. Dodge.
Former Mt. Pleasant Panther Scott Hahn scored 8 points for Quincy University in their 100-54 loss in Carver Hawkeye Arena to the Iowa Hawkeye men Sunday in an exhibition game.

The Mt. Pleasant High School Cheerleading Squad took first place Saturday in Class 3A at the Iowa High School Cheerleading Championships held at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines. The coach of the Panther Cheerleading team is Nikole Taylor.

Mediapolis rolled to another big win in the Class 2A football playoffs. Friday night they beat Bondurant- Farrar 48-14 in the quarterfinals played on the Bulldogs home field. Quarterback Jesse Ertz went down with a possible knee injury in the first half as he was making a cut in the open field. He did return after setting out a short time and led his team to 3 more first half touchdowns. Ertz is expected to be available for their next game at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls for a semi final game Saturday November 10th at 7 P.M. against Dyersville Beckman who has a record of 11-1. Spirit Lake and Carroll Kuemper are the other semi finalists.

Holy Trinity Catholic will begin selling advance tickets to the November 8th State Volleyball Tournament match against Marquette Catholic of Bellevue today thru Wednesday from 8 a.m. till 3:30 p.m. at the school. Tickets are $8 each for students and adults.
A “Meet and Greet” will be held at the “Club” in West Point tonight for the Holy Trinity Catholic volleyball team. A pork loin sandwich supper will be served for a free will offering. The volleyball team will be there so you can get pictures and autographs. State tournament tickets will also be available for purchase then. The event will run from 5:30-8 p.m.
