The Henry County Sheriff’s office issued a code red alert this afternoon. The sheriff and the state patrol advise that travel in this area is not recommended due to the blizzard warning that is in effect until midnight tonight. Numerous vehicles at

this time are stuck on Hwy 218 and traffic is at a standstill for northbound lanes near the Trenton/Mt. Union turnoff due to a jackknifed semi. Traffic has not moved for several hours in this area. Whiteout conditions exist causing extreme danger not only for law enforcement officers, but to yourself. If you do get stuck, it could be hours before law enforcement are able to reach you to assist you. If by chance you are out and do get stuck, please call the sheriff’s office or state patrol with your location. Right now there is a tow ban in place on highways 34 and 218 and you will not be allowed to tow your vehicle.
