Mt. Pleasant School Board Meets

Written by on December 12, 2012 in News

Mt. Pleasant School district has been identified as a three year district in need of assistance, based on no child left behind. The problem area is math across all grade levels. This designation means the district must submit a plan for rectifying this situation. At last night’s school board meeting, Director of Instruction Paul Batey presented the board with that plan. It involves greater family engagement, effective professional development and targeted intervention for all struggling learners.

Four Mt. Pleasant High School teachers received school board permission last night to establish a Silver Cord Program. The Silver Cord is a distinguished award available to high school student with the purpose of recognizing their out of school volunteer efforts. Participation is voluntary and students who complete the required number of service hours while in high school will be recognized at graduation with a silver cord to wear with their cap and gown.
