Alcene Henn

Alcene Henn, 88, of Farmington, passed away at 12:25 a.m. Saturday December 15, 2012 at the Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

Born July 16, 1924 at Mount Pleasant, Iowa the daughter of George W. and Grace Brown Helterbran. On September 3, 1944 at Burlington, Iowa she married Lloyd Gilbert Henn. He preceded her in death on July 29, 2003.

Survivors include one daughter Carol (Dale) Muntz of Farmington, one son Wesley (Betty) Henn of Farmington, four grandchildren: Tom (Maria) Muntz , Beth Muntz, Stewart (Michelle) Henn and Chantry Henn. Three great grandchildren: Aleeshia, Kevin, and Rabecka. Four step grandsons: Chad (Angie) Strickler, Adam and Jeremy Drummond and Jacob Drummond. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister.

Alcene was a member of the Farmington United Methodist Church, the Farm Bureau and the Rocks and Relics Club. She worked at Rider’s Nursery, the Thompson Variety Store and Armstrongs. She also worked at the Fairfield Glove Factory in Bonaparte and the Donnellson Health Center. Alcene enjoyed showing horses in her younger years. She loved her flowers especially her potted plants. She was a good artist and devoted farm wife and homemaker.

Friends may call after 1:00 P.M. Friday at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington the family will meet with friends from 6-8:00 P.M. Friday evening at the funeral home.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday December 22, 2012 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington with Pastor Shawn McAfee and H. Wayne Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington.

Memorials may be made to the Commission for the Blind, the Farmington Fire Department or Hospice of Central Iowa.
