New London’s Dover Museum has received $1,000 from the Wal-Mart Foundation Local Community Contribution Grant Program. This, much appreciated, money will be used for further renovation of the Pilot Grove railroad depot which was moved to New London in June.
Outside work continues, weather permitting. Rails have been laid with the sidewalk and platform of donated, repurposed brick under construction by volunteers.
When the depot restoration is complete, it will contain information about the Burlington/Northern and ‘Peavine’ rail lines as well as an extensive collection of railroad memorabilia.
